I was returning home tonight after shopping with my family at the Asheville Mall for some shoes. As we were driving down Tunnel Road towards Swannanoa the moon was cresting the horizon of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Moon appeared much larger than normal and had a yellow tint to it’s color. We couldn’t get a good picture because of all the light pollution.
We drove to an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway about 2 miles north of East Asheville. It was perfectly dark and there were also two other photographers taking pictures!
These were pictures I shot with the Nikon D3200 (A great beginner’s camera) and a 50 mm to 300 mm lens. I shot these on manual mode with different ISO levels, apertures, and shutter speeds.
Hope you enjoy them because my wife and daughters sat patiently in the car for the ride up and down the mountain as well as while I was taking the photos! I love them for accepting my random moments!
