GTA Online Heists Trailer

According to Rockstar Games the much anticipated (for 1.5 years) Heists DLC will be coming in early 2015. The end title card for the trailer listed GTA5 as for PC as well as all the other platforms its currently released. This provides speculation that Heists will release with the PC version. The trailer depicts the four player co-op mode for Grand Theft Auto Online. Expect to plan, prepare, and execute multiple different heists all over Los Santos and Blaine County.

Unlike Destiny, which wants every player in its raid to do every job during the raid, Rockstar has leaned up against tactics for it’s heists. Each player will need to take care of specific jobs during the heists in order for the robbery to be a success. This DLC will bring new vehicles, weapons, clothing and more.

Imran Sarwar answered many questions about the upcoming Heists DLC without spoiling the exact release date.

He said, “To be honest, (Heists) just turned out to be alot more difficult than we originally thought. After many months of designing, testing, rewriting, and re-testing, we settled on the four player structure that you will experience in the game. It took a ton of work from our programmers and mission designers to make it work at the level we were happy with.”

He continued, “As it turns out, creating missions of that complexity for multiple players at the same time was much more difficult than we anticipated and every time we thought we were close, something would send us back to square one. Having already let players know of our intentions with Heists, every setback only increased the pressure to make sure we got them right.”

I think we can give a nod to Rockstar for making sure all the I’s were dotted and T’s were crossed. We have seen multiple failures this year already and we are sort of tired of buying those. I realize that this is just a DLC but it is almost a game with in a game. One thing I can say as a consumer is that Destiny and Rockstar are stepping up the game for Downloadable Content. Each DLC is actually an ordeal, not just some new items and trinkets.

Imran Sarwar went on to say, “Even as we were working to solve this, the entire team was also throwing everything we could into creating the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V – adding First Person Mode, building the new replay editor for PC – as well as constantly working to improve the GTA Online experience. All of these projects are linked and require the attention of our core team at all times, so despite our best efforts, we simply wound up needing more time to make sure every one of these projects was as good as it could possibly be.”

Things we know about the heist and how it works:

  • It is 4 player co-op and all players must be rank 12 or above.

  • 1 player will be designated as the heist leader.

  • To be leader you need to own a high-end apartment with a planning board room.

  • Leader will invite players to the heist, assign positions, pick outfits, and allocate each player’s cut.

  • Leader will have to front the set-up costs in order to successfully pull off the heist.

  • Leaders will not receive a cash payout until the finale is complete.

  • Crew members a cash payout for each part of the mission.

  • At launch there will be 5 heists comprised of over 20 missions. (Around 20 hrs of gameplay)

  • Bonus rewards for playing all 5 heists in order with the same set of players.’

  • Bonus reward for playing all of them in first person mode.

Where does this leave you as a player? Does this information make you excited for the update? Does it make you more forgiving for the amount of time this promise took to become reality?
